The White Bear Lake Area Historical Society connects our community to its past and cultivates an appreciation for our history.
2016 Board of Directors
Rheanna O'Brien, President
Rheanna is currently a teacher at Frassati Catholic Academy in White Bear Lake. Her enthusiasm for history and her students is contagious. Rheanna's role as education liaison has been a vital one for the WBLAHS as we enhance our presence in the area schools over the next few years. Her presidency will be focused on cultivating those relationships and developing a legacy of learning for our area.
Jenni Corbett, Past President
Jenni joined the board in 2007 and ascended to the position of Secretary in 2008 and to President in 2014. She is a relative newcomer to Mahtomedi with her husband Ben and brings great enthusiasm and talent to her many roles on the WBLAHS board. In addition to her duties as Secretary, Jenni jumps in to help with events and projects throughout the year. Her fabulous talents as an artist have enhanced many of our recent projects.
Brady Ramsay, Treasurer
Brady joined the WBLAHS board in addition to his service as a Rotarian, a father of two and his position at Ramsay & Associates in Mahtomedi. His easy going personality and willingness to jump in wherever needed make him a great addition to the board.
Eunice Cote', Secretary
Eunice has a strong sense of community and a desire to see quality organizations continue. She brings a fresh perspective and great experience to her role on the WBLAHS board and offers insight to alternative solutions to issues that face many organizations.
Jo Emerson, At-Large
Jo was a new board member in 2008 and moved right into the position of Treasurer. She has served as President and with the turn of the calendar she is now serving as Past President. Jo's many talents and contributions to the Historical Society include her research skills and interest in local government. She serves on nearly every subcommittee of the board and contributes countless hours of her time and talent.
Dave Peterson, Fire Truck
In addition to his service on the WBLAHS Board, Dave is a dedicated member of the White Bear Lake Fire Department. His curiosity was piqued when he heard about the historic White Bear fire truck that was being donated to the WBLAHS and as they say, the rest is history.
Jeanenne Rausch, At-Large
Jeanenne brings an active roster of community participation including her involvement with the White Bear Lake Fire Department and the schools. Her event planning and organizational skills are a wonderful asset to our organization.
Sara Markoe Hanson
Sara Markoe Hanson was raised in White Bear Lake and left for a short period to attend college at St. Cloud State University where she received a BA in American Studies and a MA in Public History. After college she married and moved out of state for a few years, but returned to the area in 2001 to accept the newly created Executive Director position with the WBLAHS. Her love of history and the opportunity to return home could not have blended more smoothly with the needs of the Society. For more than a decade Hanson has developed programs, gathered stories and worked tirelessly to preserve and promote the area around White Bear Lake.
